In podcast #3 I discuss yet another concept that will serve valuable to my research proposal. I took the advice that I was given after my last podcast and I put the definitions on-screen. I think it was a good idea given that there were a number of terms to define for this cast. The chalkboard idea did not turn out as well as I would have liked, but it looked alright. The videos that I recorded had a strange shadow across them that I know was not present on the screen I was recording, so I was a little bit disappointed about that.
I feel like I have gotten pretty good at editing the videos and matching up the sound with the b-roll. I was able to match my voice with the clips. I especially like the music I found on garage band. I did have a little problem uploading the slides with the text on them. This podcast took me a little longer to edit. Overall I am pleased with the final cut. Hope you guys enjoy this one, and thanks for watching.

I think you did a fine job with this podcast. You explained the concepts well and used some good examples in the form of b-roll to highlight them. The editing was good and the sound and lighting were clear. The use of the blackboard is a good visual device used by you to explain the concepts. The b-rolls were nice and of good quality. Did you use a DVD for the Willy Wonka clip?
I liked the b-roll you used. It was of high quality and lent a very interactive feel to your video. Especially, the MLB game captures looked good on screen.
Overall, this podcast was very good and I certainly look forward to seeing what your final podcast will be like.
Overall, the podcast has a nice feel. I like the use of flash frames to cover the cuts. Nice job editing the b-roll. Your voice seems to change a bit when you are at the chalkboard. The slides generally work well, be careful about putting too much text on the slide. You get very close to the edge of the screen when in the slides. Try to bring your margins in a bit. This is particularly important if you are editing video that will be shown on a television—this is when the term “screen safe title area” becomes important. I like the elevator sign off. Nicely done.
You did a great job with this podcast. I really enjoyed your b-roll and your voiceovers were edited really well and fit perfectly with what you were talking about. Like Arijit said, I thought the blackboard was a nice touch and was a good way to explain the concepts; it keeps your attention. The baseball video game clip was well filmed (I assume you filmed it) and the camera was perfectly still. The Willy Wonka clip was entertaining and kept my attention. Overall, I think this podcast is one of your best, great job, I look forward to the next one.
Brandon—
I liked how you welcomed your audience at the beginning of the podcast and then you went to the title slide. I also liked your review of your previous podcasts. Your b-roll was great because it helped me to understand what you were talking about. However, the lighting seemed a little dark. I also liked your use of the chalkboard. That is something not many others have done. And once again, this really helped everyone understand how everything connects. Your shots of the mouth, eye, and ear were very explanatory as well. Using the definition slides were also helpful, but I would suggest trying to shorten the definitions. Consider picking out some keywords that really help to describe the idea. I liked that you finished up the podcast going down the elevator. It was also really cool that you used an elevator with a very pronounced ‘ding’. Although a minor detail, I thought it added to the scene.
Good job!
