I must say that I was a little sad knowing that this would be my last podcast. I have enjoyed putting these together. Podcast 4 is a complete overview of my research proposal I will be turning in soon. It will give you guys a bit of information that will be included in the literature review and the method I will use for the study. I changed locations for this cast, so for the first time you will get to see my fabulous apartment.
As I have done with the previous two podcasts, I included some recorded video in this one. I have a few clips from a video game, a clip from a movie, and a clip on World of Warcraft. The clip of WoW will give you a better understanding of the game I will be studying.
I want to thank all you guys for watching my podcasts, and I hope you enjoy this one.

Brandon, I liked the methodology you have chosen, triangulation of different methods will provide more credible results.
I have never played any video game, the one you are talking about looks and sounds scary:) I wonder what kind of skills people can actually master playing this kind of game?! It will be interesting to look at your findings.

Brandon, great final podcast! Your topic is definitely interesting and studying video games is always fun. I think the methodology is a great idea and like Svetlana said it will help to gain more credible results. The podcast looked great for lighting and the sound was very clear. Great job!

Brandon, this podcast effectively ties your previous podcasts together. Not only do you use this last podcast to present your research proposal you also give listeners adequate definitions of technical terms (telepresence, uses and gratification, etc.) Even a person who had not seen other podcasts would have a good idea of what WOW is and why people may be drawn to play the game. The embedded video clips made this especially interesting. I particularly liked how you explained your research methodology by showing a video example of a personal interview and a personal observation. Your research plan is well designed. You know your topic very well. I like your relaxed presentation in a relaxed atmosphere. The music is good, but I think short music transitions in between each of the research components would add interest. Good job and good luck on your research.
Brandon,
Great job on podcast #4! Your information was really good and I feel like I got a good feel for what your paper is over. It's an interesting topic and the results of the research would be facinating. The actual editing and filming that you did was good. All the different pictures added to the interest and using several different scenes (with you and scott) was also nice...
Nice job and congrats on graduation!
Great final podcast. I liked how you tied in previous podcasts by asking viewers to refer back to them. That makes for a cohesive set of podcasts and also eliminates you from having to re-discuss previous topics. Great idea!!! I also liked your action sequences, particularly the ones that demonstrated your methodology. As previously mentioned, I think your methods are solid and will help explain the interaction gamers have in a more comprehensive manner. I don't think that why gamers play games or what gratifications they seek can easily be answered using just quantitative methods. Finally, I thought your podcast was well-produced and edited. The use of slides and the effects you chose was also helpful and engaging.

Brandon,
Nice job with the use of Garage Band music that is my favorite of the song choices. I also liked your use of clips from WOW- pretty good scenes- in terms of the design work. I also liked how you used the editing tool to write your definitions over some of the action shots you have from other games, highly technical and fancy!
Your study sounds very interesting and useful considering how many players these games have, I read an article that reported the game industry earnings for the last quarter and it was in the billions- obviously the number of participants isn’t slowing down. Sorry you and Scott didn’t get to tape the entire podcast together that time- nice touch displaying the other techniques you will use to gather info. Overall GREAT job, wish we could see more…
Congrats on graduation- 17 days!
Good job. Nice work. Excellent. Seriously not bad. I liked the WoW promo video, it made the game look a lot cooler than it is. The music was lame. Too New Orleans styled, but whatever. Sorry I couldn't be there to help you film. I liked how you told people to go back and watch your other podcasts. Overall it was interesting and I didn't skip over that much of the podcast.
Love,
Scott.
Brandon,
Great podcast. Nice job using the different video clips to help illustrate some of the things you are going to talk about in your final paper. Also, with the scenes from WoW, this allows people who may have never scene the game know a little bit about it and how it looks. As far as researching, and I am sure you have been told this many times, but I would visit with Jimmie Reeves. He is an avid WoW player and fan. I also believe he teaches a course that is based on this game.
As far as the actually podcast go, everything looked great. It was well produced, the variety of scenes like the interview and observation were a nice touch. I also thought your lighting was good and I like how you did voice over with some of your slides. I also liked how you mentioned viewing past podcasts to get a better explanation of things. Like others have mentioned, this allows you to focus on your paper topics and not have to spend time going back to re-explain things.
Good luck with the rest of your research for this paper.
Brandon,
First of all, you did great job on this podcast. I really enjoyed.
I think it was a really good idea shown the world of warcraft when you're explaining your ideas. It was really good to see virtual world on your podcast.
Also, I like the slides you made. One suggestion on that, if you make it a little bit bigger, it would be perfect!
Your method section was great. You show exactly how you are going to conduct your study. It fits your research topic and also this new media class. And I like the way you connect your previous podcasts.
Cool podcast. I love the clips from the video game. They were really cool embedded in your podcast. I like the methodology and think you could get some interesting results. I only wonder if some of the players actually know why they play it. Anyway, it looks great and you did a great job editing!
Very nice finish to the podcast series. I have enjoyed all your podcasts and this was no exception. You explained the main purpose of your paper lucidly and I liked the referral back to podcast #2. You sounded like a real professor there!
The camera angles were consistent and the lighting was very good. I also like the use of your b-roll, as always. The explanation of your methodology and research questions was good. Overall, you did a very good job. Congrats!
First off, kudos to you. This podcast was very well done. The clips of WoW were a nice touch. They came out very clear and gave viewers an idea of what WoW is. I also liked how you did your voiceovers on those WoW clips/scenes--you were able to show the clips/scenes for a good amount of time without it becoming boring and repetitive. The clips, scenes, voiceovers, text and slides in this podcast effectively showed your knowledge about the subject. I especially liked the Rainbow Six clips (I used to be obsessed with that game) and thought that the text you put over those clips was creative and effective. The Grandma's Boy scene was also a nice touch and a great way to keep viewers' interest. Suggestions...um ya... about the lighting...haha just kidding, your lighting was fine and I can't think of anything to legitimately critique. Once again, you did a fabulous job and I have enjoyed watching your podcasts throughout the semester!
Brandon, as always, very nice job. I really have no critiques. I enjoyed the music and the clips. I also appreciated the way you linked your series together by referring back to past podcasts. All in all, interesting and well done!
Brandon,
I always enjoy your podcasts, your humor comes through. I like the way you are using different methods to study your subject. The lighting was good and the sound was great. I like that you included clips as references for what you are talking about. Great job.
